A Rewarding Himalayan Adventure
The Chele La Trek is a short yet rewarding adventure ideal for trekkers who want to experience the grandeur of the Bhutanese Himalayas in just a few days. Rated as a moderate trek, it offers panoramic views of Mount Jumolhari, Jichu Drake, Tsherim Gang, and even distant glimpses of Kanchenjunga in Sikkim. The journey begins from the beautiful Haa Valley and traverses’ high ridges, meadows, yak pastures, and rhododendron forests before ending at the scenic Chele La Pass (3,990m).
Along the way, trekkers will experience traditional yak-herding camps, dramatic Himalayan landscapes, and sacred sites such as Kung Karpo Sky Burial. Despite being short, the trek encapsulates the essence of Bhutan’s alpine beauty and cultural heritage.

- Spring (April – June): The rhododendrons are in full bloom, painting the trails in vibrant colors.
- Autumn (Sept – Nov): Offers crystal clear skies and the best mountain visibility.

Itinerary
Upon arrival, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. After lunch, visit Ta Dzong (National Museum) and Paro Dzong, both rich in Bhutanese history and architecture. In the evening, explore Paro town or visit the local handicraft emporium. Dinner and overnight in Paro.
Begin the day with a hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery, perched dramatically on a cliff 900m above the valley floor. The trail winds through pine forests with prayer flags fluttering in the breeze. Stop midway for refreshments before reaching the monastery. Return to Paro for dinner and overnight stay.

Your trek begins in the scenic Haa Valley (2670m) with a gradual walk along farm roads before joining the trail. Passing through yak herders’ camps and gentle forested paths, you steadily climb uphill until reaching your campsite at Sagala (3150m).
9KM | 6 HOURS | 700M ASCENT | 250M DESCENT | CAMP ALT 3850M
Start with a short climb to Sagala Pass, where clear skies reveal stunning views of Jumolhari and Jichu Drake. The trail continues along ridges and meadows, alternating between gentle ascents and descents through rhododendron forests and alpine pastures. After a scenic ridge walk with panoramic views of the Haa Valley, you descend to camp at Ningula (3850m).
11KM | 6 HOURS | 500M ASCENT | 360M DESCENT
The trail descends briefly before climbing to the sacred Kung Karpo Sky Burial (4350m), marked by stone cairns. From here, enjoy breathtaking views of both Haa and Paro valleys. Continue along ridges with glimpses of the Kila Goenpa Nunnery below before descending to Chele La Pass (3990m), where your vehicle awaits to transfer you to Paro.
After breakfast, drive to the airport and farewell.
